What is DPV - Delivery Point Validation?
Delivery Point Validation enables you to verify that an actual address exists … down to the apartment or suite number. When used with CASS certified software that matches the address to a range based ZIP+4 record, delivery point validation determines if the address can be confirmed as a specific delivery point. The United States Postal Service Delivery Point Validation database is updated on a monthly basis.
Using DPV to will virtually guarantee that each direct mail piece will be delivered to the Delivery Point and not “Returned To Sender” because of “No Such Number.”
- DPV actually confirms ZIP+4 coded records actually exist and are a valid Delivery Point, right down to the suite, unit or apartment number.
- DPV uses the USPS-supplied data of more than 151 million records to confirm that an address is actually a deliverable destination.
- Addresses that can not be Delivery Point Confirmed automatically are flagged in your database so you can opt not to mail to these addresses.
Adding DPV can save you hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars in both postage and production costs, thus maximizing efficiency and increasing profits.
